NJ Breast Reduction Case Study: Correcting Sagging, and Asymmetry

The Consultation: Understanding Her Goals

When this patient first came in for her consultation, her concerns were clear and familiar. She was struggling with very large, heavy breasts that caused daily discomfort. But what made her case a little different was the noticeable asymmetry between her left and right breast.

Her left breast was visibly larger and sat lower than the right. This wasn’t just about size. It was about balance, posture, and feeling comfortable in her own body again. She also mentioned the usual symptoms I often hear in breast reduction consultations, which are neck pain, shoulder grooving from bra straps, and difficulty with clothing.

My goal was simple: create smaller, lighter, and more balanced breasts that looked natural and felt comfortable.

Day of Surgery: Planning for Balance

During surgery, I removed excess breast tissue from both sides, with extra focus on the larger left breast to correct the asymmetry. Reducing the size was only part of the plan. I also needed to reshape the breast tissue itself, lift it higher on the chest wall, and reposition the nipples to sit more centrally.

Her areolae, which had stretched over time, were also reduced in diameter to create a youthful, proportional look.

The incision pattern allowed for this reshaping while keeping scars well-concealed over time.

Week 1: Early Healing

As expected, the first week was all about controlling swelling and protecting the healing tissue. She wore her surgical bra for support and moved around comfortably.

Already, the improvement was dramatic. The breasts sat higher, and the once-obvious size difference between left and right was nearly gone. Even with swelling still present, her chest looked more balanced and proportional.

Week 2: Settling In

By the second week, much of the swelling had subsided. The breast shape was improving day by day. Her posture was noticeably better. Without the constant weight pulling her forward, her shoulders sat naturally, and she moved with much more ease.

The scars were clean and well-positioned. Around the areola, the incisions were beginning to blend nicely. The vertical incision down the lower breast was healing as expected and would continue to soften over time.

Week 6: Taking Shape

This is often when patients really start to see their new figure come to life.

Her breasts had settled into a compact, lifted position. The asymmetry that once dominated her chest was no longer noticeable. Both sides matched in size and shape, with a natural, rounded contour.

She had resumed most of her daily activities and was thrilled to move, exercise, and dress without the limitations she had experienced before surgery.

3 Months Post-Op: Final Result Coming Together

By the three-month follow-up, her results looked exactly as I had hoped.

Her breasts were balanced, well-shaped, and appropriately sized for her body. The nipples were centered and forward-facing, the breast contour was youthful and lifted, and the scars were softening beautifully.

Even though the scars will continue to fade further over the next several months, they were already discreet and well-placed.

Most importantly, she felt dramatically better both physically and emotionally. The neck and shoulder pain that once bothered her daily was gone. Her posture had improved. And she was enjoying clothing options and physical activity in a way she hadn’t been able to for years.

Final Thoughts

Cases like this are a perfect example of why breast reduction surgery is about so much more than size. It’s about shape. It’s about balance. And it’s about restoring comfort and confidence.

This patient now has a breast shape that feels like it belongs to her body, natural, balanced, and comfortable. And that’s what breast reduction surgery is all about.
